Hey Kitty! Have you heard the news?? Harriet laid an egg today at 4:24 pm!!!!!!!! M15 hasn't seen it yet, but he sure knows something's up! He was sitting on the limb out in front of the nest looking at Harriet like... what are you doing in bed already?? lol He came down to the nest shortly after that and did a little beak cuddling with Harriet, that sent all of watching into tears. I can't wait to see his reaction when he finally does see the egg! Him being a newbie at this Father'ing thing is going to make it fun and interesting to watch. lol
Here's the link to the LIVE cam if anyone would like to take a peek!

OMG Thanks for letting me know. Not having my computer with everything programmed in it, I haven't been watching. I know there wasn't a dry eye in the place. Everyone had kinda thought there would be no eggs this year after all that has happened. I miss Ozzie but I know he is watching from Eagle Heaven and is so proud of his beloved Harriet.

Oh Wow, Kitty...M15 is sitting on the egg as we speak!!! He's so darn cute taking his turn at incubating the egg! He was making me nervous there for a few minutes though. He was sitting on the egg when I first logged in and then Harriet flew in and he left for a few minutes. He came back with big stick for her. lol When he gave it to her they both began trying to figure out where to put it and while they were shuffling it back and forth between them, it came really close to bonking the egg a couple of times! We were all holding our breath and yelling at M15 to put it somewhere already!!! lol Finally they did place it and then M15 started snuzzling the egg with his beak and pushing it around the nest and had all of us yelling at him again...be careful with that precious egg, big guy!!! lol But at last he got it like he wanted it and sat back down on it. While all of this egg rolling was going on, Harriet was sitting on a limb nearby keeping a close watch over what our new Dad was doing. But as soon as he sat down on the egg she flew off to most likely go get her and M15 some breakfish. But all in all, I think he's doing a really good job and think he's going to make a really good daddy for E7 ...and hopefully for E8 and maybe even an E9! Wouldn't it be great if Harriet really did lay 3 eggs this year? But, in reality, I'm actually happy just seeing the one since they were saying she may not lay any at all this year!

Oh I'm so excited!! I can't wait till I get a computer of my own so I can put everything like my old one and quickly check in on them throughout the day and night. I did check on them last night and one was in the nest sitting on the egg but I don't know who it was. I have the hardest time telling them apart. Well I am happy with one egg but two or three would be awesome.

Really? Yay!!!!! This time, thanks for letting ME know! lol I have been so busy this week getting things ready for Christmas that I haven't had much time for my eagle watching. So thanks for telling me!
I'm tickled pink to hear she's laid another egg!!! Even after all poor Harriet has been though since this time last year, she's still hanging in there! Her ordeal has been so much like what we humans go through in life. She did her grieving for Ozzie and then picked up the pieces and got on with her life...and she most definitely grieved for Ozzie after he was injured and ended up in the Rehab Center! Of course, she had no idea what had happened to him and that he was actually ok, all she knew was that he wasn't there and she missed him. I sat many a morning and cried for her when she would sit in the pond tree calling for him. You could actually hear the sadness in her voice. It broke my heart to hear her calling out to him and not getting a reply back. But........since then, many times over, she's proven herself to be the proud mama eagle that we have all come to love and know her to be. Just goes to show, you can't keep a good eagle down!

Kim, I have been anxiously awaiting to tell you this...I actually saw Mom Berry lay that egg yesterday!!!!!!!! My first time ever of seeing an eagle lay an egg and boy was it exciting!!!! I just happen to tune in at the right time and everybody in chat was going nuts and saying... it's about to happen.... and it did indeed happen about 15 minutes later right before my very eyes! lol So, lucky me was able to be there to help welcome little B6 into the world! I have also been watching the other 2 nests you mentioned, when I've had time. The two little cuties at the NEFL nest are growing in leaps and bounds and have already started growing in their second down. They are so stinking cute! Harriet of course will always be near and dear to my heart, but after watching B6's arrival into the world yesterday I developed an instant maternal instinct for that little eggie and will be watching his/her's development very closely this season. lol

Woo-Hoo! We did indeed get our second Berry baby on Sunday, but unfortunately I didn't get to see little B7 come into the world. I missed it by 20 minutes! I checked on Mom Berry around 7pm and everybody in chat was saying she had never laid that late in the day before so it probably wasn't going to happen that day. Well, darn it, when I went back around 7:40 I learned she had laid the second egg at 7:18!!! Below is the little glimpse Mom gave everyone a few minutes after the delivery.

Well, my eagle friends, unfortunately, misfortune has befallen the Southwest Florida Eagle Nest once again. E8 became tangled in fishing line that was used as nest material at some point. Experts were called in and determined that intervention was necessary. E8 was removed from the nest and is in the care of CROW. Once again eagle watchers are following CROW on Facebook. Poor Harriet just can't get a break. Here is the latest. Earlier today, E8 was retrieved from its nest at the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam in North Fort Myers as a result of a fishing line that was caught around its left leg and brought to CROW Clinic.
Upon arrival, E8 received an examination and radiographs to determine if there were any broken bones or internal injuries. Radiographs indicate that there are no broken bones but showed signs of dehydration and weight loss.
Because of swelling in the leg, there is concern about nerve damage due to the lack of blood flow. More will be determined tomorrow once the swelling has reduced.
E8 is currently receiving food, fluids, antibiotics and plenty of rest. We will share an update tomorrow.
Sweet little E8
