Greatest Mothers Day Picture!!! This is Amy & Angie. What a happy girl! This is Amy's story I was born on February 2, 1983 at the Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. I was taken from my mother Clair within two hours of birth—even though Clair is noted as being a good mother—and raised in the nursery. When I was a year old, I was shipped across the country to Rockville, MD and used to test a hepatitis B vaccine. From March 29, 1984 to June 3, 1987, I was held down once a week while someone drew my blood and stuck needles into my liver for biopsies. I was not given anything to treat my pain. I returned to Holloman at the age of three. I was not involved in any other studies but was enrolled in the breeding program from 1997 to 1999. I never had any children.
Save the Chimps rescued me and 20 other Air Force chimps in 2001, and I moved to Florida where I set foot outside of a cage and onto grass for the very first time.

Thanks Lelee!!!
Got all teared up, I did!! What a beautiful sight to see. I hope he is returned, totally healed, before the nest cams come down. I would love to see Ozzie and Harriet back together again before next season. Like everyone else, I am also worried about FV. I know that if Ozzie is around next mating season Ozzie and Harriet will mate again. But for now FV is keeping Harriet company. They are not mating, but they sure are keeping house. I feel sorry for FV.

Posted by CROW on FacebookIt's has been a week since Ozzie has been moved to the large flight enclosure and he continues to fly and build his strength. At this time, we are giving him his privacy to reduce stress and will provide a more in-depth update next week. We will supply video footage of Ozzie later this week. Below is a picture of Ozzie perching in the large flight enclosure.

I got this on Facebook the other day.
Ozzie received his physical yesterday after being in the large flight enclosure for almost three weeks. He was x-rayed and his blood work and kidneys were checked to make sure everything is functioning correctly. During the physical, a federal identification band was placed on Ozzie’s right leg by the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey. If Ozzie becomes injured in the future, he will be able to be identified by the band.
Ozzie still has some minor wing droop after extended periods of exercise which means there is still residual soreness. He is currently taking medication to decrease any physical discomfort that he may have. Next week, he will continue to receive physical therapy to reduce soreness and build stamina.
No release date has been scheduled, but the blood work shows Ozzie is fit and healthy and ready to return to the wild in the near future. We will have another update next Friday and will post some video from the large flight enclosure during the week. #ozziebaldeagle #baldeagle #crowclinic

Thank-You So Much Lelee!!! I am a bit under the weather and this is just what I needed to lift my spirits. The Cams were knocked out by storms recently and from what I remember they could not be repaired. I went to check anyway and saw that Chat was Opened today and they said they would open again if there is any activity at the nest. There are many people on the ground so I am sure we will get pics and videos if anything does happen.
This is the Post on Facebook and link to the video of Ozzie's release. I cried like a baby lol.
Happy to announce this morning at 7:24am, a healed Ozzie was successfully released back into the wild thanks to the great staff at CROW - Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife, Inc..
A very happy and emotional day for all! We will work to provide updates as we get them on Ozzie's activity and hopeful reunion with Harriet.

You're Welcome Callie. I've had 3 cockatiels the first 2 mumbled but the last one Larry talked and sang up a storm. He outlived his owner and I adopted him. He lived to be 24 years old. He would say "What are you doing" at the appropriate times and I think he knew what he was saying even though "They" say that the birds are only repeating what they have heard. What do "They " know lol.

I just love little birds. I know Paro surprised me everyday. What good entertainment they provide for people in bed. That sweet little pig just needs to be cuddled! He almost looks like a toy. I wonder as he grows how they will compensate for his back legs. The " Big Boys" can certainly take care of all of us! What facinating and beautiful faces they have.I suppose they would frighten away enemies. I have to report that our little burro from the dike did not survive the winter. I have known this for several months, but could not write about it.

Oh Callie, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your little burro, Eeyore. I know he was a bright light in your walks at the dike. It is so hard when we lose one of our furry friends. Even when they are not our own pets they still have a way of making a mark on our hearts. I truly believe that there is a special place in Heaven for all animals and that your friend is there now. When you take your walks remember how he made you smile and know that he is in a very special place, happy and free from all pain and suffering. I know you will miss him greatly, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh no! So sorry to hear about little Eeyore, Callie! I know I'm a little late to the party on this, but it did something to me when I read he didn't survive the winter. The wonderful stories you've told us about him along the way made him 'real' to us too, so it's really sad to find out he's no longer with us. Sorry for your loss sweet lady.
