I enjoyed your story doubleduece about your kitty watching the birds on TV. It reminded me of my little parakeet, Paro. He was a sweet, aqua-blue tiny ball of feathers. Paro was also very smart and could repeat many words. My favorite was " Mama's Baby Boy". One day he flew out the back door and we all scrambled out the door to find him. We could see him resting near the top of a giant evergreen. We called to him, but he was thrilled with his freedom. There were so many extreme dangers outside for him including other large birds. Well, he flew up the street and around the corner. We ran after him with some of the neighbors following. We spotted a tiny speck of blue at the top of a tree and I heard him calling. I asked everyone to be very quiet. I held my hand up in the air and called his name. We couldn't believe it, but he flew and landed on my finger. I, of course grabbed him with my other hand. We all marched back to our house including the neighbors and put Paro safely back in his cage. He slept the rest of the day, probably dreaming of his freedom flight. More about Paro and our kitty later.

I'm sorry I haven't been on here much the past two days, but I worked yesterday morning & while I was at work my poor buddy Bentley passed away. We had a crematory place come pick him up & they performed the cremation on him this morning. About 3 weeks ago we found out that he had a new tumor, this one in his neck/throat. He has since had a very hard time eating. It got to the point where he couldn't eat any solid foods because he couldn't swallow it & would end up choking badly. He lost about 12 pounds just in the last 3 weeks. Poor guy was acting totally normal, except the eating part. As much as a pain in my butt he could be most of the time, I loved him dearly & am having a really hard time dealing with his death. I got a box with his ashes, a cement keepsake with his paw print & name on it, & a baggie with some of his fur.

O LeLee I am so sorry for your loss. My heart is breaking for you and I am in tears now knowing just how you feel. The passing of my precious Kitty was one of the hardest times in my life. Everyone grieves in their own way and healing takes time. I too had my Kitty cremated and with her ashes I was given this it gave me a little peace, I hope it will do the same for you. Along with this poem, I am sending you big hugs. I wish I could hug you for real. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

LeLee, I'm in tears too. So sorry to hear about sweet Bentley. We had all come to know and love him through the pictures and posts you have shared with us, so it's truly heartbreaking to learn he has passed on. Losing our furry babies is always hard, and at this very moment, I am remembering the pain I felt when I lost my little Mitzi. She was a tiny toy poodle that was born with health defects. She was suppose to be the size of a normal tiny toy poodle but because of her internal organs not fully developing she only weighed about 3 pounds when fully grown. As a result of her problems nobody wanted to buy her so she was given to a friend of mine. As time went by my friend realized, with 3 small children and all that this entailed, that she didn't really have the time to deal with a special needs doggie. So, when Mitzi was about 18 months old she came to live with me. Like you and Bentley it wasn't always easy caring for her, but me and that little dog bonded like I have never bonded with any other dog and I loved her with a big portion of my heart. Sadly, because of her health issues she didn't live to a ripe old doggie age, but the time we did have together are all fond memories and will always be near and dear to my heart. Most of us know first hand what you going through right now, Lelee, and even though we can't be there in person to comfort you, please know we are there in spirit. Love and hugs to you dear friend.

I was going to post all these pictures with my last post, but I didn't want to add them as attatchments, but instead use tinypic.com to add them. Didn't have time last night to do it so here they are now.
The first three were all inside the care packet that the crematory made for us. Kim, one of them was the Rainbow Bridge like you posted, just a different background. The only one I have read is the blue one (the third one). It hurt so bad to read it that I haven't been able to read the Rainbow Bridge or the little prayer one. But I thought it was very nice & sweet how A Pets Memory did this & put the little care packet together for us.
This is the box his ashes are in, along with the little baggie of his fur, & the cement block with his paw print. (Sorry if this bothers anyone, ya'll are more than welcome to delete it.)
And this is the last picture I took of him. I took it on the April 12. His paw is wrapped up from where he chewed on it while he was at the vets the week before, when we found out he had the new tumor. It's not a very good picture of him, but it's the most recent one I have & to me it looks like he's smiling.
And thank you very much ladies for all the kind words. Means a lot to me. He was the most human like dog I ever met. And with time, I know I will move on & not be so sad.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to delete any of it. It does make me cry and my heart is breaking, but it is a beautiful tribute to Bentley and I feel privileged that you have shared it with us. As doubleduece said we have all come to know and love sweet Bentley.
Thank-You for sharing this with us and know that you are not alone. Anything you want to post about Bentley is welcome here. We can all celebrate his life. Posting my Kitty's pictures all over the internet, writing about her and using her name helped me in the healing process. Maybe sharing with us will help you too. We are all here for you.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a post or two from you of you about Ozzie the Eagle....well I saw a post on Facebook this morning from one of the local news stations down where we used to live in SW FL. Thought you all might be interested to here the update if you haven't already.

Thanks Lelee, I had not seen the footage. I got up a little before dark and checked the nest and chat was open. Not usually the case but from what I was reading it had been a rollercoaster day. E6 had not returned to the nest last night and was nowhere to be found in the am and everyone was so upset. Everyone is hoping that E6 will stay in the nest area until Ozzie returns. Well, E6 returned to the nest late this evening and everyone was thrilled, but then he was screaming for his mom and no one had seen Harriet all day. Then came the news that an eagle had just been rescued from somewhere near the nest needless to say fear set in thinking it might be Harriet. Then E6 left the view of the cameras but could still be heard screaming and then we heard another voice and the SWFL moderators said it was Harriet. Wow, I had been there less than 30 mins and I was exhausted so I didn't stay around to check out any of the updates or videos. I am happy to have found the update here. I have come to love that little eagle family.

Thanks for the updates LeLee and Kim! I love that little family too! That E6 is something else! I love that little eaglet to pieces! I haven't had time lately to do much eagle watching so I hadn't yet seen the update on Ozzie. Really glad to learn he is doing so well. I also didn't catch any of the happening at SWFL nest yesterday, but as soon as I read your post Kim, I went tearing off to the site to see what's up and there sat E6 at the top of the nest tree! So, all is well in E6 land at the moment.

Posted today on CROW's Facebook page. Ozzie, the bald eagle from the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam has been moved to the small flight enclosure. He was scheduled to be relocated there last week, but due to inclement weather, he was moved to a smaller enclosure that had better coverage to protect him from the rain. Ozzie now has full range of motion of both wings and will continue to wear carpal bumpers and tail guard to prevent additional injury. In the small flight enclosure, Ozzie will have opportunity to take small flights to build his strength and fully expand his wings. No release date has been scheduled.

These little grey squirrels look like they are suiting up for a space training program, but really they are just having a lunch break.
Jane Roberts of Fareham, Hants, in Great Britain hangs coconuts with holes in them on her clothing line so she can watch them eat in a strange and amusing way.
Said Ms. Roberts, 46, “The first time I saw them feeding I nearly died laughing, they looked like a pair of astronauts and even now I can not stop chuckling every time I see them. I make a large hole in the coconut so they can get to the flesh. They cannot get enough of them. I worry they might get stuck up there one day but they are clever little things.”

Posted on the Berry College Eagles Facebook page 2hrs. ago 9pm central time
The college had a power failure Saturday which caused the cams to fail but they are working now. In the meantime, it appears a branch broke and one of the eaglets fell to a lower branch 15 feet below on the back side of the nest. We are consulting with our experts and will know more Sunday
UPDATE The fallen eaglet fledged around 11am central time.
I had to go to bed this morning it was very late for me. That was around 8am CT. At that point, he/she really had no choice. While I was watching I saw him make several attempts to fly up to get back to the nest, but that wasn't working. Maybe he was actually just testing his wings. He hasn't returned to the nest, but people on the ground said appeared to be fine.
