Well now you got me started Miss Vee. I have so many new animal photos that I don't know where to start. It got to where I was the only one posting pics here. I was hoping others would post. Oh Well heres's one of Molly when she was alot younger. The little boys next door who stayed with me most of the time thought Molly would look good with a bucket on her head. It was so funny, Molly didn't care at all in fact she seemed to be proud of her hat.

I am so glad that you both are sharing your animal photos again. It really brightens the day. I saw that news story about the lab that rides the bus to the dog park-just remarkable. I have a little info. from a dog trainer whowas in the mall. I began walking with her and of course asked her about the beautiful dogshe was training to be a seeing eye dog (that is not what they are called any more, but I can't remember the correct name) Anyway, one of the things she told me was they like to use a lab/german shepard mix because a lab gets his feelings hurt too easily and will pout if corrected.

It was such an interesting conversation and I will try to remember more of what she told me. She told me that not only do sweet labs pout, but they will go to a corner in the room to do their pouting. Are they part human or what?

My older sister was blind and always wanted a Lab for a service dog although she never used a dog. After she passed away my dad got our lab. Not sure if it was because of Donna or if he wanted a duck hunting dog. Our lab ended up not being a service or hunting dog. He was our loyal companion and family member. He never pouted. He was very smart. He had many toys and would retrieve whichever one you asked for. He would instinctively play differently with children than adults. Once an adult friend, who was deaf, visited us and he played with her as if she were a child just sensing she was somehow different. I have so many stories.

I do remember one other thing she said. Her part of the training took 4months and the dog would live with her. She said it was hard not to get attached, but she did not want to ruin them for their new owner. She did finally adopt a retired aid dog because they make fantastic pets. Did you know there is quite a long waiting list to adopt retired aid dogs?

some people I work with shared this photo, I'm not sure which Airport it's at: lol he looks protective! We have a Special-Assistance desk where I work that I have to contact pretty frequentlyfor people who need to bring a support animal. Sometimes it's emotional support, but usually the person depends on that dog for "help". We try to sit them in the front row for large dogs to lay at their feet. & Sorry for your loss, Kitty, I know how that feels.

I have been hearing a lot about military people trying to bring back dogs they befriended overseas as well as their service dogs. I was happy to hear about some that did get to bring their dogs home and some being able to keep their service dogs. I don't know if service dog is what they call the military trained dogs or not. Anyway as you can see in that picture there is quite a strong bond there.
Thanks Vee I had just turned 10 at the time. Did you lose a sibling too?

I have spent the last few days investigating dog beds for Molly. She can no longer get in the bed with me so she tries to sleep on the carpet next to the bed but ends up going back and forth from the bedroom to the living room couch which is low so she can get on it and it's easier on her old bones. She goes back and forth because she feels she needs to protect me even from the cats. Well, I am thinking of spending what to me is an insane amount of money for an orthopedic bed for her and to put next to my bed. I only have the money because of Christmas money from my Mom. Anyway, I get Bark Box in my email and today they had this video. This is exactly what I'm worried about. Perfect timing and a really funny video. Hope you enjoy it. Oh and the cute lovely sharing at the end is not gonna happen in my house.

That video was so funny! It's so true, Thanks for sharing. My dog has skin issues- chews & licks herself, and gets a bit stinky, so I need a bed I can wash. I used to fold up my old quilts on the floor at the foot of the bed for her too.
Yes Kitty, I did. I remember what struck me was that you said your older sisters' name was Donna. I actually had 2 sisters, I'm the middle, my older sister Donna is still alive, she lives approx. 6 hours away. My younger sister "Pixie" passed away about 12 years ago now. People thought we were twins, I miss her alot.

I'm glad you liked the video. I completely understand that feeling of loss, it changes you. I had two sisters also and a brother all older than me. Donna was the closest in age three years older than me. We were very close We shared a room from the day I was brought home from the hospital.
