In checking on the Eaglets today there were two in the nest and the third one was up on a branch above the nest!

Ohhhh, they're precious, Kim. Will they let you pet them yet? After such a rough start it does my heart good to see them looking so healthly and content. I just want to pick them up and hug them.

Hey Whisper, what's the latest on the eaglets? I think I read in a post somewhere on here that they are leaving the nest. If so, did you get to see them fly away? Update please!

Good morning Doubleduece. I have been watching the birdies this morning and the two larger ones are very active. The little one is not- don't know if he is getting his share of the food or not. We worried about him from the beginning, but then he seemed so feisty and like a survivor. Now I don't know.

Ohhh He's done so well and come so far. I hope he makes it. It would be heartbreaking now if he didn't.

Oh boy! All three eaglets left their nest today. They flew very high to the upper branches. We just happened to be watching when the little one flew up. They are all back in the nest now waiting for mom to arrive with dinner. We read that the eaglets will keep coming back to their nest until mom and dad kick them out--maybe wanting to start another family. Isn't nature amazing?

Some more kitty pic's and a little short story to go with them.
This little guy was a character! He was always making us laugh with some of his cutie little kitty antics...like in the picture below where he's jumping up and down playing with a plastic bag. He would make a game out of anything that crossed his path. I let my grand kids name him. They named him Swiper after the fox in Dora the Explorer, because in the beginning he was always swiping at them. They had to wear socks on their hands just to pet him. lol But they eventually won him over and he likewise eventually stopped swiping at them and decided they weren’t so bad after all.
Swiper came into our lives one hot July summer morning in 2003. As my husband was leaving to go to work he heard a kitten loudly meowing and found him laying under our next door neighbor’s car wailing his little heart out. The hubby came and told me about him and naturally I went and got him. He wasn't a willing participant though, he was afraid of me so he was hissing and scratching and slapping at my hand and doing his tiny little best to scare me away. It took about 30 minutes of talking and consoling just to be able to touch him…which he didn’t like, not even a little bit! But he was hungry so a small tidbit of T-bone steak is what finally sealed the deal for us. After that, he followed me home meowing and wanting more. But instead, I scooped him up and put in a pet carrier and whisked him off to the vet‘s office for some pet formula. There, one of the vet’s assistants fed him a bottle of milk and then he sweetly curled up inside the carrier and went sound to sleep. We became big buddies after that and it wasn’t long before he learned I was now his adopted mommy.
When Swiper was about 8 months old he brought his own kitty home! He was a beautiful black and white tuxedo cat. In the pictures in my second post: in the first pic is Swiper trying to befriend him. It took a while but in the second pic, as you can see, Swiper's kitty finally made it to the porch. He was very shy and timid at first, but eventually he relaxed and make himself at home and become a part of our family….as you can well tell in the third pic. lol I named him Sassy, but that was before his first trip to the vet, where I was informed he was actually a nurtured male. lol But too late no, because by this time this is what we were calling him.
Swiper was a one of kind kitty and the only kitty I’ve ever written one of my short stories about. The reason for this recognition is because out of all the kitties I’ve had over the years Swiper was the one my grand kids became the most attached to. They were all just little tykes themselves at the time and would make a bee line for Swiper every time they came through the door…which tickled Swiper pink, as they were now his favorite play toys! So as a result of their love and affection for Swiper the story was written and tucked away for a future day. Someday when my grandchildren read it, hopefully they will be reminded of all the fun and happiness a sweet little kitty named Swiper brought into our lives at a special place in time in our lives.

I also enjoyed your story and your writing is lovely. I'm sure your grandchildren will remember their kitty. I couldn't tell if Swiper is still living. I hope so!
