If your are a fan of dolphins and other sea animals you can check out dolphin research center.org. It is located in the Florida Keys. I've been there and it's nice if you're a dolphin fan. They have a live webcam on the website and some times you can watch the dolphins. When it's off, it says the dolphins are sleeping. I think that statement is inappropriate because dolphins never totally sleep. Better clarify that they let half their brain sleep at one time. They can't totally sleep or they would suffocate.
The web cam is on from 9am to 4:30 pm Eastern Time

Eaglets Update Yesterday the first hatched eagle flew over the youngest baby in the nest. It has been positioning itself on the edge of the nest mostly looking out of the nest contemplating his first major flight.
When I look at their little legs it looks like they have flood pants on with their little yellow feet sticking out.
Thank you for the eaglets update whisper. I sure wish I could see them before they fly away. But I have tried to get the live steam on 4 different computers and devices now and it just won't happen for me. They all say the same thing..."Could not locate plugins". But my IT son will be coming over this weekend and I have already told him about it, so he's going to take a look at it and try to fix it for me. In the meantime though please keep us updated as I really enjoy reading your posts about them.

Double Duece I hope you can get your computer fixed this weekend so you can look at Eaglets.
Mother stopped by with some groceries this morning. The first born Eaglet is getting larger than its parents. He is still hanging out at the edge of the nest.

WHISPER, LOVED TO HEARABOUT YOUR BRAVE KITTY! SO NOW I WILL TELL YOU ABOUT MY VERY SMART BLUE AND WHITE PARAKEET. HE PROVIDED YEARS OF ENTERTAINMENT FOR US. HE LOVED HIS SWINGS, RINGS, BELLS, WHEELS, MIRRORS AND PLAYED IN HIS OWN LITTLE BLUE BATHTUB. HIS NAME WAS PARO AND HE SAID "PRETTY BOY" AND "MOMMA'S BABY BIRD." HIS LIFE WAS FULL OF ADVENTURES. HE ESCAPED TWICE INTO THE WILD BLUE YONDER BEHIND OUR HOUSE. WE COULD BARELY SEE HIM IN SOME VERY TALL SPRUCE TREES IN THE WOODS BEHIND OUR HOUSE. AMAZINGLY, HE RETURNED HOME EACH TIME. LOVED THAT BIRD!

OUR EAGLETS ARE LIKE AWKWARD TEENAGERS NOW. I DID'T THINK THE LITTLE ONE WOULD SURVIVE, BUT HE IS CERTAINLY HOLDING HIS OWN. WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE FIRST FLIGHT, BUT IMAGINE WE WON'T BE TUNED IN AT THAT EXACT TIME.

They are awkward when they are walking around the nest. They remind me of little old men walking with their heads down and arms (wings) behind their backs.
Cheryl Callie you may want to check out the dolphins web cam. I just was watching and they were interacting with the trainers and a few people. If you look at the Bottle Nose Dolphins they always look like their smiling and they can put a smile on our faces as well.

Thank you! I hope I do too so I can at least get one little peek at them before they leave the nest. BTW, how long have you and Cheryl/callie been watching them?

whisper, you may not have a camera, but both you and callie sure painted a good picture with your words. The visuals while reading both posts put me right there with you and I could see both pets very vividly. I have always said 'there's more ways of doing things than one'...and you two ladies just proved that.

I think we have been watching them since some time in March. I had been watching the news one night and they had the story and video on when the raccoon got into the nest and the mother had to protect the three eggs. I was amazed when I saw her wing span and that chased the raccoon away. They gave the web site so I started watching when the eggs hatched. Then I told Cheryl about it and we've been watching ever since. I find it interesting and educational. I wonder about what's going on in the nest and if I tune into the news I can get an explanation. One day I had gone to the site and there was a bunch of white feathers spread around the nest like they had a pillow fight. Turns out the dad had killed and brought back a bird and the feathers were from his kill for eaglet food. I never saw a Bald Eagle before only photos of them. We will miss them when they leave.

Ah, so you HAVE been watching them since they were just eggs! I think it's so neat that you actually got to see them hatch and after 4 months of watching them I sure you WILL miss them when they're gone. Until I read what you said about the Dad eagle bringing the eaglets food I wasn't sure if he helped feed them or not. So, thanks, you just answered another question I was going to ask. Turns out my IT son isn't going to be able to make it over this weekend after all. Sometimes his job takes him out of town on the weekends and wouldn't you know this would be one of those weekends! :(So whatever is wrong with my PC that prevents me from be able to view them is just going to have to wait until another time...dang it!

These are my three owls. They return to my tree tops every year for mating season.
They are barred owls. They are huge and they sound like monkeys in the trees at night.

Kitty-I would like to have an owl. I'll trade you some squirrels and woodpeckers for a cute little owl. Deal or No Deal! Sorry but No Deal! I have squirrels and woodpeckers already. They are not cute little owls. They are huge. I leave my backyard flood lights on all night to try and protect feral cats and squirrels from becoming dinner.
